MARINA DEVELOPMENT, INC. ADDS 100 NEW SLIPS AT SUNSET MARINA ON DALE HOLLOW LAKE
Completed expansion features 100 new slips and a unique 700-foot floating walkway
DALE HOLLOW LAKE — Marina Development, Inc. (MDI) has completed a major expansion project for Sunset Marina on Dale Hollow Lake, adding 100 new boat slips and a uniquely designed 700-foot floating walkway in Plankyard Harbor.
Initial product delivery for the project began on September 23, 2025, and the project was completed on March 20, 2026.
The expansion includes three primary dock sections. Two single-sided dock sections each feature 20 standard 12’ x 30’ slips with 4-foot-wide fingers and a 12-foot-wide head pier. A third back-to-back dock section features 30 standard 12’ x 30’ slips on each side, bringing the project total to 100 new slips.
The dock sections are configured in a “T” formation, with the two single-sided sections forming the top of the T. This layout allows the new slips to be positioned near the center of the cove while providing convenient access for marina customers.
One of the most distinctive features of the project is the 12-foot-wide by 700-foot-long floating walkway connecting the new slips to the shoreline. The substantial length of the walkway was necessary to properly position the slips within the cove. A 6’ x 24’ gangway connects the floating walkway to shore.
The wider walkway and 12-foot head piers on the single-sided dock sections provide additional space and easier access when getting on and off the docks. Each dock finger also features a custom-built standing storage closet at the entrance, constructed on-site by the marina.
The completed expansion provides Sunset Marina with 100 additional slips and strategically positions the new dockage within Plankyard Harbor, creating additional capacity while improving accessibility for marina customers.
